“The Butterflies of Kenya” - the latest film in John Banks’ series on the World’s Butterflies - film is now on sale, in VHS and DVD format. This is the first Cinebutterflies film to appear in DVD. Others will follow. The Kenya DVD includes all the scientific names of the species as they are shown on the screen.
Because of its terrain and climate, Kenya is a microcosm of the African Region. About 1000 of the continent’s 4000 butterfly species can be seen there. The film shows about 100 of them.
It also provides a penetrating analysis of their historical origins, illustrating species of the main landscapes of Africa - forest, coastal forest, and savannah - as well as addressing the question ‘What butterflies might earliest man have been seen, 4 million years ago?’
